About State level Inter-college competitions


Gobindgarh Public college is organizing State level Inter-college competitions at on 10th March, 2018 (Saturday) at 9.30 am in the College Campus. The Competition is organized in the following items:

You are humbly requested to send your teams to participate in these competitions. The names of the participants should reach the undersigned latest by 6th March, 2018 through mail at (gpc_alour03@yahoo.com).

Literary Competition


Poetical Recitation

Timings: 10.00 am (Venue-Smart Class Room)
  • Each Institution may send upto two participants.
  • Medium of poem recitation can be Punjabi, Hindi or English.
  • Maximum time allowed to each participant shall be 5 minutes.
  • The Poem for recitation may be of any writer or it may be self – composed.
  • The participant shall declare the name of the writer/book from which he/she has taken the poem.

Declamation Contest

Timings: 11.30 am (Venue-Smart Class Room)
  • Each institution may send upto two participants.
  • The participant may speak in Hindi, Punjabi or English.
  • Maximum time allowed to each participant will be upto 5 minutes.
  • Topics for the declamation are:

    • i) Social Media: Boon & Bane
    ii) Rising Graph of Crimes in School
    iii) India of my Dreams.

Creative Writing

Timings: 10:00 am (Room No-23)
  • Following will be the categories of Participation:
    • i. Essay Writing.        ii. Story Writing.
    iii. Poem Writing.
  • Each Institution may send one participant for each of the category.
  • One student can participate in one category only.
  • Theme for Creative Writing will be announced on the spot.
  • Language of participation will be English, Hindi or Punjabi.
  • Two hours will be given for composition in each category.
  • Depiction of theme should not be injurious to personal or religious sentiments of any individual or community.

Literary Quiz

Timings: 10:00 am (Venue-College Library)
  • Following will be the categories of Participation:
    • • Undergraduation
    • Post Graduation
  • Each Institution may send one team (Comprising of two participants) for each of the category.
  • Preliminary round will be conducted to finalize the final stage event.
  • Broad areas covered for Quiz-

    • For Undergraduation:Syllabus of B.A-I,II,III General & Elective English, Current Affairs,Grammar, Literature & Cinema

    For Post graduation: British Literature, World Literature, Indian Writing in English/Translation, Grammar & Linguistics, Literature & Cinema.

Music Competition


Geet/ Ghazal and Folk Song

Timings: 10:00 am (Venue-B.Ed Hall)
  • Each institution can send two participants i.e. one for each of the above mentioned categories.
  • A participant may participate in both the categories.
  • Upto 5 minutes will be given to each participant.
  • Theme of the item should not be cheap or vulgar..
  • A participant can sing recorded or non recorded Geet or Ghazal.
  • Upto three accompanists are allowed.

IT Competitions


Logo Designing

Timings: 10:00 am (Venue-Computer Lab)
  • Each institution may send only one participant.
  • Theme will be announced at the time of competition.
  • Maximum time allowed shall be 30 minutes.
  • Permitted design tools- Adobe Photoshop and Corel Draw.
  • Use of internet will not be allowed.

Power Point Presentation

  • Each institution may send only one participant.
  • The participant is free to choose any sub-theme relevant to the main themes given below:

    • (a) Digital Marketing (b) Social Media Mining (c) Blogging as a career
    (d) Artificial Intelligence applications in daily life.

  • Maximum time allowed shall be 10 minutes.
  • The participant should bring his/her own soft copy of the presentation in a virus free CD/Pen drive.
  • Use of internet will not be allowed.

Code Development

  • Each institution may send only one team comprising of two participants.
  • Programming Languages to be used- C/C++.
  • Participants shall implement a program to solve a problem definition provided at the time of competition.
  • Maximum time allowed shall be 45 minutes.

Website Designing

  • Each institution may send only one team comprising of two participants.
  • Theme for website will be announced on the spot.
  • Maximum time allowed shall be 1 hour.
  • This competition will test the front-end designing skills of the participants.
  • The images to be used in the website will be provided at the time of the competition.
  • Permitted languages and development tools are: HTML, CSS, Javascript, Adobe Photoshop.
  • Use of internet will not be allowed.

Fine Arts


Timings: 10:00 am

On the Spot Painting(Venue-B.Ed Lawn)

  • Each institution can send two participants.
  • Time allowed will be 2 hours 30 minutes.
  • Size of the sheet will be half imperial sheet 22"x15".
  • Participants will bring their own sheets and colours.
  • It is left to the choice of a participant to use any of the following medium : oil-paint, water-colour and pencil or pastel colour.

Poster-Making (Venue-Room No-24)

  • Size of the sheet will be half imperial sheet 22"x15".
  • Item will be conducted on the spot and participants will be required to do poster-making on a given subject.
  • Pasting of extra material would not be allowed.
  • Participants will bring their own material such as sheets, brushes, colours etc.
  • Time duration 2 hrs. 30 minutes

Rangoli (Venue-B.Ed Library)

  • Each institution can send maximum two participants.
  • Item will be conducted on the spot on a given subject.
  • 3'x3' space will be made available for preparing Rangoli patterns.
  • Only traditional themes would be allowed.
  • Only dry material for colours is allowed.
  • Participants will bring their own material i.e. dry powder, saw-dust, flowers, green leaves etc.
  • Time allowed will be 2 hours 30 minutes.
  • Accessories are allowed.

Mehandi (Venue-Room No-25)

  • Each institution can send one participant.
  • Only Traditional Mehandi powder in a cone should be used to make traditional patterns and designs on hand.
  • Participants will bring their own material.
  • Time limit will be 2 hours.
  • The Participant should bring her own accompanist.

Nail Art (Venue-B.Ed Girls Common Room)

  • Each institution can send one participant.
  • Time allowed will be one hour.
  • Participants are required to bring their own material.
  • Pre-assemblage of art is not allowed.
  • The Participant should bring her own accompanist.
  • No consideration will be given to the shape/style/size of the nail.

Media Competitions


TV Interviewing (Venue-Journalism Lab)

Timings: 10:00 am
  • Each institution may send only one team comprising of two participants.
  • In each team, one participant will act as an interviewer and the other participant will act as any famous personality.
  • Time allowed will be 5-8 minutes.
  • The show must have a proper beginning and ending.
  • Judgment will be made on the basis of knowledge, command on language and acute sense of the timing of the participants.

RJ Hunt

Timings: 11:30 am
  • Each institution may send only one participant.
  • Topic will be announced at the time of competition.
  • The participant may speak in English, Hindi or Punjabi.
  • Maximum time allowed shall be 2 minutes.
  • Judgment will be made on the basis of presence of mind, speaking style and knowledge of the participant.

Ad Mad Show

Timings: 12:00 pm
  • Each institution may send only one team comprising of 2-3 participants.
  • Theme for the show is: Mobile Phones.
  • Time allowed will be 2-3 minutes.
  • Judgment will be made on the basis of innovation of idea, tagline given to the product, acting and presentation skills of the participants.

Theatrical Competition


Histrionics

Timings: 1:00 pm
  • Each institution can send one participant.
  • Upto 5 minutes will be given to the participant.
  • Theme of the item should not be cheap or vulgar.

General Rules for the Competition


  • All the participants must bring their identity cards and authority letter from the Head of their respective Institutions.
  • A teacher may accompany the participants.
  • There will be three prizes in each item and in each category.
  • Decision of the judges will be final.
  • Participants will bring their own material.
  • Entries must reach before 6th March, 2018.
  • Registration fee for each participant is Rs.50/-
